Heylo Coffee Unit

An espresso machine without a boiler. Water is heated by induction for each shot, as it is pulled, to the temperature the recipe asks for. Temperature, pressure and volume are set phase by phase, so a recipe here is a curve, not a single number.

One group per unit. Set up two units as a double-head workstation, or pair one with the Heylo Milk Unit.

THE RECIPE

A recipe is a curve, not a number.

A single set point is the norm: one temperature, one pressure. On the Heylo Coffee Unit a recipe sets how the shot moves: how hot the water is at the start and at the end, how hard the pump pushes in each phase, and how much water each phase gets. Save up to 100 recipes per group and switch between them from the knob.

Temperature

Four temperature steps across the shot, each tied to the water delivered.

Pressure

Four phases: pre-infusion, ramp, infusion, post-infusion. Pump power and water volume for each.

Volume

Set in millilitres, phase by phase. The total is the sum.

TEMPERATURE

Start where the coffee wants it. Finish where it should.

Water is heated the moment it passes the induction element, so its temperature can change during the shot. A recipe sets four temperature steps, each tied to a volume of water, anywhere from 88 to 96 °C: the first millilitres can run hotter than the last, or cooler.

There is no boiler. The one thing kept warm is the group itself, held at a reference temperature between the highest and lowest points of the recipe, so it neither cools the water nor heats it on the way to the coffee.

EXAMPLE RECIPE

Temperature drop. 93 °C at the start of the shot, 87 °C at the end, group at 90 °C. The intent: brightness and aroma first, body in the middle, less bitterness at the finish.

PRESSURE

Four phases. One smooth line.

Pre-infusion wets the coffee gently. The ramp raises the pump to the extraction level over a set volume of water, without a step. Infusion is the main extraction. Post-infusion is the finish. Each phase has its own pump power and its own millilitres.

Change the dose on the home screen and only the last phase changes. Change the temperature and the whole curve shifts by the same amount. The shape of the recipe survives everyday adjustments.

PRECISION

How exact do you want it? You choose.

Each recipe carries a precision mode. Fast starts the shot as soon as the water is within 5 °C of target. Precise waits for 1 °C. Normal sits between. A tighter window costs a few seconds before the water reaches the coffee; a wider one starts sooner.

CONTROLS

Basic shows the recipe, temperature and volume. Chart draws temperature and pressure live while the shot runs. Advanced shows every live value: group and water temperature, flow, pressure, pump and inductor power.
